What Makes a Placement Worth the Investment

The spot itself only matters if the right eyes land on it. A featured listing at the top of a low-traffic directory is a poor investment even at a low rate; a modest placement in front of an audience that is already looking to buy is worth paying more for. We evaluate paid placement by who sees it and what they were doing right before they saw it, not by the position’s name or its list rate.

Common examples include a sponsored listing on a directory site, a featured slot in an app store category, or a promoted post pinned above organic social content. In every case, the business is paying for position, not letting an algorithm or an audience decide it earned that spot.

How We Decide Where to Spend It

We ask three questions before recommending a paid placement: does it sit in front of people with real buying intent, is there a way to measure what it actually produced, and does the platform let us adjust or exit if it underperforms. Placements that fail any of those three tend to be the ones that get renewed on faith rather than results.
